Escalating Palestinian violence targets Israel’s civilians across the country
The Chronicles of Terror
Escalating Palestinian violence targets Israel’s civilians across the country.
For some time, the security situation inside Israel in relation to the Palestinians and terror attacks has been precarious.
Since Rosh HaShana (the Jewish New Year) things have taken a significant turn for the worse and we are now experiencing a wave of terrorist attacks that seems to be spreading across the country.
A common denominator
According to security services, all of the recent attacks has a single, common denominator. In the past, we were the target of planned and organised terror attacks by clearly defined terrorist organisations (Fatah, Hamas, Jihad etc.)
The present wave of terror, however, consists of “spur of the moment” attacks by ordinary Palestinians who, seeing an opportunity, pick up the closest weapon (usually a knife, a rock etc) and attack the people who happen to be in their immediate area.
The driving force behind most of the attacks appears to be what Palestinians are being told is an Israeli attempt to “take over” the El Aqksa Mosque (The Dome of the Rock) in Jerusalem. Needless to say, there is no truth whatsoever to this rumor but it is being exploited by Palestinian politicians and organisations to promote continuing unrest and confrontation with Israel.
What’s more, the rumors are also having an effect on Israel’s Arab population and we recently witnessed violent demonstrations by Israeli Arabs in Jaffa and Lower Nazareth.
Even as we celebrated the Jewish New Year a couple of weeks ago a rock thrown by Palestinians at a car driven by 64 year old Alexander Levlovitz, caused him to swerve into a ditch and into a pole. Levloitz died from his injuries and two other people travelling in the car were slightly injured in thent in the East Talpiot neighborhood of southeast Jerusalem. A tragic end to a family celebration of the New Year.
Palestinian Arab terrorists attacked Israeli drivers in Judea along Highway 60 near the Jewish community of Efrat.
At least one vehicle was struck by rocks which smashed the car’s windshield.
Miraculously, no one was physically hurt in the attack.
A Palestinian gunman shot dead two Israeli parents in a shooting attack on their vehicle in Samaria, between Elon Moreh and Itamar. Four of their young children survived the attack without injury and were rescued by emergency responders from the bullet-ridden vehicle.
Stabbing in the Old City kills 2. The attacker attacked a family stabbing and killing the father, seriously injuring the mother, slightly injuring a toddler. The family’s 6 month old baby escaped harm. An off duty policeman who came to their aid was also stabbed an killed. All this occurred while Palestinian shop owners stood by and did nothing.Later on, in a separate attack, an Israeli teenager was stabbed by a Palestinian near a gas station.

The Overall picture
Jerusalem In the eastern suburbs of Jerusalem, rocks and fire bombs are just part of the gauntlet that Jewish residents have to endure on a daily basis. Neighborhoods bordering on Arab areas experience rifle fire that causes fear and concern as the sounds of bullets shriek through the air. Passengers on the Jerusalem Light Railway System that was designed to serve all the city’s residents, face a rain of stones and rocks as the carriages pass through Arab neighborhoods.
Judea & Samaria
In Judea & Samaria (the West Bank) rocks and petrol bombs regularly target vehicles with Israel number plates. This has become a regular occurrence with the terrorists becoming even more daring and organised.
In the south civilian settlements are regularly targeted by missiles, rockets and mortars from the Gaza Strip and snipers continue to shoot, almost daily, at farmers in their fields and at Jewish villages along the border with the Gaza Strip.
In the North, according to some security analysts, the breakup of the Syrian entity and the continuing civil war has reduced the risk of a direct confrontation with Assad’s regime.
On the other hand, where there is a vacuum, something will always appear on the scene to fill it. Today, Syria no longer actually exists as one sovereign, political entity, but rather is broken up into territories.

A small region in the northeast is the Kurdish enclave. Half of the country, most of which is desert, mainly in the East, is controlled by the Islamic State. In northern Syria and in the South on the border with Israel, on the Golan Heights, control is largely in the hands of the Nusra Front (the al-Qaida affiliate that has been made more moderate by funding from Qatar). The rest, which includes Damascus, the center of Aleppo, Homs and the coastal strip with the ports of Latakia and Tartus, in which President Bashar Assad’s Alawite minority resides, remain in control of the regime.

Soon, a new Druse enclave is also likely to be formed in the area of Jabal al-Druse in southeast Syria, near the approach to the Jordan border.
But whoever controls which area of Syria they all, apart from the Kurds, have one common enemy who they seek to destroy – Israel.
On the political front, Israel continues to be the target for attacks
UN Building, New York
The UN recently approved the flying of the Palestinian flag at the General Assembly, Reykjavík city council in Iceland approved a total embargo on all Israeli goods, the British Labor Party elected a new leader who is known for his anti-Israel and pro-Hamas sentiments and there is cynical move to have Magen David Adom (the Israeli Red Cross) expelled from the International Red Cross.
Add to this the soon to be ratified, so called, nuclear “non-proliferation” treaty with Iran then we can see that Israel continues to face tremendous security challenges on all fronts. With your support and help – we shall protect the People of Israel
